I love flowers and I love dance. These images convey the many varieties, colors, and moods of dance with flowers. Dance comes in great variety—ballroom, tango, ballet, Indian, modern, slow, fast, jazz, rock n roll, ritual. But, of course, it is mostly about motion, so photographing flowers in motion, twirling, was a first step. Colors, from muted, pale pinks and peaches to vibrant blues, oranges, and reds, extend the metaphors. For example, “If Martha Graham Had Worn Blue” pays homage to a famous black-and-white photograph of Graham. My hope is that these images will draw you in, convey to you a sense of dance, and sometimes leave you wondering. Perhaps you will hear music, too.
